Opening Sea Import Logistics Channel

In mid-June, Indonesia's leading alumina producer Bintan Alumina successfully received the first ship of Malaysian bauxite, officially opening the sea import logistics channel. The company has an annual capacity of 4 million tonnes, requiring approximately 12 million wet tonnes of bauxite for full-load production. Affected by the lag in domestic bauxite RKAB mining quota approval, local supply continues to contract, and the company turned to import trihydrate bauxite suitable for low-temperature Bayer process technology from Johor, Malaysia.

Building Three-in-One Raw Material Supply Guarantee System

Although the landed cost is slightly higher than local ore, it can effectively fill the raw material gap and avoid the risk of production line load reduction. It is reported that the enterprise plans to stably import 300,000-500,000 tonnes of Malaysian bauxite monthly, building a three-in-one raw material supply guarantee system of own mines, local purchases, and overseas imports, aiming to maintain an annual operating rate above 95%. This move has substantive support for alleviating regional alumina supply tension; specific price transmission effects still require subsequent confirmation.
